Resolve issues through dialogue: Shahbaz Sharif

Islamabad, Jan 6 (IANS): Shahbaz Sharif, chief minister of Pakistan's Punjab province, said Monday that India and Pakistan should resolve issues through dialogue.

Meeting Indian High Commissioner T.C.A. Raghavan, Sharif said people of both countries wanted to live like friends, Geo News reported.

He said the two neighbouring countries achieved nothing except wars during the 66 years of their independence.

Shahbaz Sharif, who is the younger brother of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, visited India in December 2013.

He said Pakistan wanted better relations with India and stressed on the resolution of all contentious issues through dialogue, as this was also the desire of the people of both the countries.

Lasting regional peace would assure progress and prosperity, he added.
