Three NATO personnel killed in Afghanistan air crash

Kabul, Jan 10 (IANS): At least three personnel of the NATO-led coalition forces were killed early Friday in an aircraft crash in Afghanistan.

"Two International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service members and one ISAF civilian died following an aircraft mishap in eastern Afghanistan Friday," reported Xinhua citing an ISAF statement.

The statement did not reveal the nationalities of the victims and the details about the incident under the ISAF policy.

In 2013, at least 19 NATO personnel were killed in air crash accidents in the war-torn country.

With the latest casualties, at least four NATO-led soldiers have been killed in the country so far this year while nearly 160 soldiers were killed in 2013.

More than 84,000-strong NATO-led foreign troops, down from the peak of 130,000 in 2010, are currently being deployed in Afghanistan.
