Walk to raise awareness on neighbourhood security

New Delhi, Feb 2 (IANS): Over 1,000 people participated in a walk here Sunday to raise awareness on developing a model of civil participation to bring about security in neighbourhoods.

"Our security is our responsibility. The government agencies are our enablers. Every citizen must proactively contribute to making the neighbourhood safer. Only cooperative security measures can make us immune to security threats,” Anil Rai Gupta, member of Club Class, the group that organised the walk, told IANS.

Consequently, under “Project Nirbhay” as part of the civil participation model, the group has put up closed circuit cameras at important junctions in Civil Lines in North Delhi.

“The project is working closely with the Delhi Police. In consultation with police, twelve crossings have been identified for installation of cameras in Civil Lines,” Gupta said.
