Mumbai, Mar 3: "The world is shrinking because of globalization. In the age of e-marriage and e-divorce everything looks disgusting. Though the world seems disgusting in this era of e-marriage and e-divorce, it is heartening to see the Havyaka society which evolved from the Gurukula system get accustomed to the modern-day life. The community can further grow by exploring its origins. The community also has a responsibile part to play in nation building," said CBWE chairman and Havyaka Welfare Trust president N R Hegade Ragona.

Hegade was speaking after inaugurating silver jubilee celebrations of Mumbai-based Havyaka Welfare Trust at Dr M Vishveshwarayya auditorium of Karnataka Sangh Mumbai, Mahim (West) here on Sunday March 2.

The celebrations were on the theme ‘Let us surge ahead with good character, cultural upbringing and mutual co-operation.’

Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangh Maharashtra president Chandrashekar Palettady and renowned Kannada litterateur and poet Shimunje Parari were the guests of honour.

Both Chandrashekar and Shimunje Parari presented 'Karki Venkataramana Shastry Soori Award – 2014' to Manohar Prasad, senior journalist and Mangalore bureau chief of Udayavani Kannada daily.

There is no shortcut to success, only hard work and perseverance can bring the desired results. We should understand the values of family life and inculcate them in our lives," he said.

Manohar further said, "I have chosen journalism as a career and it has given me complete satisfaction and made me successful in life. It is true that I have bagged several awards, but Soori Venkataramana Shastry Karki will be very dear to my heart, because he had found happiness in his respective sphere of life and that brought him success." He recalled his childhood days that were simple, but added that this complex world that is filled with daily chaos indeed troubles him. He also said that it is essential that one strikes a balance when there are too many expectations to fulfill.
