Facebook friend rapes, blackmails 35-year-old housewife

Mumbai, Mar 22 (Mid-day) : Police have arrested a Mulund-based businessman for allegedly raping and blackmailing a married woman whom he befriended on a popular social networking website.

The accused Dharmik Saumaya is a garment merchant and had allegedly raped the 35-year-old housewife twice over a period of four months, and extorted a huge sum of money from her after clicking pictures of them in compromising positions during their meeting in September last year. According to the police, Saumaya became friends with the survivor on Facebook six months ago. Two months later in November, they decided to meet at a hotel in Kurla. The woman, in her complaint, has alleged that Saumaya forced himself on her during their meeting and raped her. He also clicked pictures of them in a compromising position after which he started blackmailing her, threatening to show the photographs to her husband and people in her locality.

He extorted Rs 1.55 lakh from her and also raped her the second time when she had met him to give him the money. Scared of the repercussions, the survivor did not approach the police at that time. But when the accused started harassing her for more money, she confided in her brother and reported the matter to the local police station. Mulund police officials transferred the case to VB Nagar police station as the incident took place in Kurla, which is under their jurisdiction. Senior police inspector Subhash Raut from VB Nagar police station said, “Saumaya began blackmailing her after threatening to show the pictures to her husband and everyone in the locality. She got scared and started paying the desired amount. When we interrogated the accused, we came to know that he has spent all the money on his business expenses.” The accused has been booked under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 384 (punishment for extortion) of the Indian Penal Code, along with sections 66 (E) and 67 of IT act.

We cannot call it as RAPE because she willingly attended his invitation to meet in the hotel. Why she did not disclose the rape in the first meeting itself to her brother or police. When he extorted money from her then only she disclosed the matter to police through her brother otherwise it is okay for her for extramarital relationship.

Face Book has become a curse to the society. It not only spoils young generation, even middle aged people are vulnerable. Chatting in the closed room secretly with unknown person lands them in lifelong mental agony. In the above incident, it was lady who had given chance for the boy to blackmail her. The full credit for the episode goes to her for betraying her husband. Disgusting. Beware before befriend with a stranger. Don't allow evil minded person to write your biography.

In real these kind of women when seduce have sex and later call it as RAPE...this is the consequence when the girl is given too much freedom....western culture calls it multiple partner or a one night stand...in India we still call it as Rape...nothing wrong from both but she afraid about what society may think....so society is problematic here...

On the face of it, I think it was initially a mutual arrangement, which went awry for some reason and now just to save the skin, the victim may have thought of this plot!! Jai Hind!!

Married woman, living with husband, befriended a stranger, had illicit relationship. She felt the problem only when the guy continuously demanded money, otherwise, it was ok for her to have some extra pleasure outside marriage. Shame on this lady. The guy seems only 5% at wrong while the woman should be penalized for for being 95% offensive.

    I pity her husband.

And again. A willful adulterous relationship of a married woman lands only a man in jail. Thanks to anti men laws . Even the woman gets nailed for false case , it will be too late. Adultery is a offense too , so husband is listening or he do not know this.! what r the other chances if man cross complaints that married woman lured him with money and forced him to relationship.

Both should be punished and both are the cheaters and are equally responsible to the crime, i.e. one way or other but I feel sorry to the husband who solely trusted his beloved wife !!!.
