Mumbai, Apr 18: Nrityanjali Fine Arts Academy, Kandivali staged a thematic presentation portraying devotion intertwined with rhythmic technicalities at the prestigious Kala Bharathi platform organized by the Karnataka Sangh, Matunga in the city recently.
The two hour presentation began with Bhakti Vaibhavam which was followed by Rudra Natyam. The songs provided an insight on the margam without traversing through the adhered path.
The program began with the junior disciples performing to a Marathi aarthi – Sukh Karata followed by Srivignarajam in Gambhira Naatai set to Khanda Chapu.
The Kollatta was an energetic folk dance which carried the essence of Bharathanatyam without compromising on the layas. The thematic pallavi of the thandava lasya in aakashalingam demonstrated a complex and structured pattern of jathis which added to the vigour and energy of the dance. The programme concluded with a vibrant jugalbandhi which was a typical countdown of beats in aadithallam.
The choreography was done by the director and teacher (guru) of the institute, Revathi Srinivasraghavan. With a fine synthesis of music and melody, the rhythmic composition by Satish Krishnamurthy was intricately woven into the dance while keeping the sensibilities of its aesthetics.
