Mangalore, Jun 19: The results of the elections for the legislator councils' South-West teachers and graduates' constituencies held on Saturday June 17 were announced on Monday June 19 morning. As expected both the seats were won comprehensively by BJP candidates.

 

While Capt Ganesh Karnik won the teachers' constituency, D H Shankaramurthy prevailed over other candidates in the graduates constituency.



          

Speaking exclusively to Daijiworld, information and publicity department officer Ramalinge Gowda said that a total of 21,428 votes were cast to graduates' constituency, out of which 1,310 were rejected.

 
 

Following is the list of candidates and votes they polled in the elections:

D H Shankarmurthy - BJP - 14,663
A N Mahesh - Congress - 4,146
B Yesudas - JD (S) - 1,053
V J Manohar - JD (U) - 103
B Janameji Rao - Independent - 53
Shobhodaya Koodlu - Independent - 130

For the teachers' constituency a total of 9,069 votes were cast, out of which 361 were rejected. Following is the list of candidates and votes they polled in the elections:

Capt Ganesh Karnik -BJP - 4,562
K B Ramlingappa - Congress - 1,513
P Vagesh - JD (S) - 2,470
Ashwin Kumar - Independent - 80
S S Omkarappa, - Independent - 129
M Shivlinge Gowda - Independent - 213
P M Shanmukhayya - Independent - 102
