One of the welcome arches put up along the route

The city is all set to welcome the Prime Minister.  This is for the first time in the last two years that the Manmohan Singh is coming to the city, although he had visited here earlier while he was the union finance minister. Roads have been repaired, drainages cleaned and surroundings cleared of dirt.  Huge  welcome arches have been erected at every post.

Security has been beefed up everywhere.  The Special Protection Group personnel arrived in Suratkal a few days ahead of the visit and have ensured all security for the PM's visit, in coordination with the district police.

Prime Minister will arrive at Bajpe airport and from there travel via Kalavar-Permude-Suratkal to MRPL.  Accordingly this road public traffic has been prohibited on this route on Friday from 8 am to 3 pm.

However, the downtown citizens will not be affected by the traffic restrictions. The prime minister will be landing at Bajpe airport and proceed to Permude for the foundation-laying ceremony. Both places are close to each other and are in peripheral Mangalore. Hence traffic within the city will go unhindered.
