Bahrain, Jun 25: FEMALE Bangladeshi dancer, who fell in love with a hotel guest who used to watch her perform, was sent home after trying to commit suicide when her employer tried to keep them apart.
The 26-year-old, who was part of a regular band at the Capital Hotel in Manama, took an overdose of pills after an argument with her bosses.
Hotel financial controller Sudhakaran Prabhakaran yesterday told the GDN that the woman was taken to Salmaniya Medical Complex for treatment before being taken to the police.
"She fell in love with one of our customers," he said.
"He was making some problems with her so we stopped the customer from coming to the hotel.
"But when we did that she said she would not work if he was not allowed to come."
Sources told the GDN that the dancer was later spotted in her hotel room at around 1am after taking an overdose.
Mr Prabhakaran said after rushing the woman to hospital, nurses advised hotel management to take her to Naim Police Station when she recovered.
He added that management decided they no longer wanted the woman, who had six other colleagues, to work at the hotel following the incident.
"We produced all the papers, paid her salary and booked her a flight home," he said.
"The police asked her if she had any complaint and she told them it was all her fault."
