Udupi: Eighteen Capuchin brothers make final profession at Perampalli Trinity Vihar

Udupi, May 7: Eighteen Capuchin brothers took final profession in a ceremony at Perampalli Trinity Vihar here on Tuesday May 6.

The mass was led by provincial of Karnataka Capuchins Fr Joseph Dolphy Pais.


Fr Santa Lopez and Fr Godwin, the provincial councilors, Fr Roshan D'Souza, the episcopal vicar of Udupi diocese and Fr Joswy Fernandes also participated in the mass.

Br Anil Kumar, Br Roshan Cordiro, Br Johnson Fernandes, Br James Furtado, Br Naveen Moras, Br Elwin Lopez, Br Brian D'Souza, Br Rohan Lobo, Br Sharan Crasta, Br Stuart Fernandes, Br Javahar Cutinha, Br Salvador D'Souza, Br Denis Miranda, Br Derick D'Souza, Br William
Albuquerque, Br Rithin Cutinha, Br Wilson Sequeira and Br Nahahoto Shekaya took the final profession.

In his message, Fr Pais said that the Pope carries out his work not through words alone but through actions. "We should not continue insisting on our own will but have to let God act according to His will," he said.

"St Francis of Assisi, though born in a rich family, helped the poor and it was Jesus who changed him. He always followed Jesus in all his ways and also did his work according to the will of Jesus," he added.

The Capuchin brothers have to abide by three principles viz lead a spiritual life by abstaining from marriage, show obedience to God and live in poverty.

The rules and regulations of the Capuchin priesthood was read out and the 18 were congratulated. As many as 36 priests attended the mass and congratulated the new priests.

After the mass, a get-together was organized in which Fr Dolphy Pais was the chief guest. The 18 Capuchin brothers along with their families were congratulated. Br Roshan Corderio spoke on the occasion.

The programme was compered by Fr Chethan. Fr Anil D'costa welcomed the gathering. The ceremony ended with the vote of thanks.
