Mangalore, May 7: "A new Tulu devotional movie ‘Brahmashree Narayana Guru’, was released on May 2 in five places across the district. Since the number of people in the audience has been low, I urge all Tulu people to watch this movie," said Rajashekar Kotian, director-cum-producer of the movie, who is also a well-known Sandalwood star and actor, on Wednesday May 7.

"Even though I was born in this place, I live outside the district. But, just for the sake of this movie I have been here for almost eight months and have been working hard for the success of this film. The movie has already been released in Jyothi Theatre and Adlabs in the city, Udupi, B C Road, Karkala, and Moodbidri," he said.

"On the whole, the movie has turned out well and there are a good number of people in the theatres though not as many as expected. People who watched the movie have reacted positively be it cinematography, direction, or songs. The Tulu people must go to theatres and watch Tulu movies so as to support Tulu artistes and the industry," he said, addressing media persons.

"Sri Narayana Guru preached the philosophy of ‘one caste, one creed, and one God’ and we have been walking in his footsteps. This movie focuses on the life history of Narayana Guru, but we do not know why the movie is not doing as well as we expected. I have experience of almost 18 years in the movie field and have acted in more than 32 movies. This movie is my first directorial venure and I urge the people of Mangalore to watch the film and give us clear and transparent feedback. Please directly point out any of my mistakes and if you like it, wish me good luck," said Kotian.

Speaking on the occasion, well-known actor Suryoday Permapalli said," This is indeed a wonderful movie and the total duration of the movie is 2.45 hours. Being true to facts, no one will feel bored at any point of time during the movie. All the crew members have really worked hard for the movie and thus, we are expecting a truthful result and outcome. Hence, we urge the Tulu people to come to the theatres in large number and support the crew."

Chandrashekar Suvarna, Balakrishna Shetty, Deepak Kotian, Rajith, and Gagan and others were present on the occasion.
