ABU DHABI, JUL 4— Hopes of tenents dashed on Monday as Minister of Economy and Planning Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi dismissing reports of issuance of new Federal Rents law. However, she said government had directed the concerned departments to strengthen the landlord and tenants relations.


A local newspaper in its story had given the impression that the cabinet has assigned the concerned departments to implement comprehensive studying order to curb and control high rents and organise relation between tenant and landlord prior to issuance of a federal rents law.

Shaikha Lubna explained that the Ministers Council has lately assigned the Ministry of Economy to coordinate with the specialized department at local governments to strengthen the relation between tenants and landlords stressing that the issue of a federal rents law was not under discussion.

She pointed out that relation between the tenant and landlord is subjective to the laws and regulations enforced in each emirate with the inexistence of a federal law applicable in all emirates. 

The official said organising the rental prices of properties in UAE is subjected to laws and regulations in effect in each emirate and in accordance with the supply and demand in each emirate.

The minister described such reports as 'untrue and unfounded' and added that reports appearing in some local dailies were false.
