Panaji, Jul 4: It will be compulsory government posting for the medical students once they pass out from the government run medical colleges in Goa.
The state government on Tuesday adopted a note which makes all the doctors passing out from the government run medical colleges to serve in government service minimum for five years.
"There is a bond signed by them during their admission to the course.. this bond was never invoked. Since there is scarcity of doctors in rural Goa, we will invoke the bond. They will have to pay certain amount, if they are breaching the bond," chief minister Pratapsingh Rane told presspersons, this afternoon.
The state government-run medical colleges Goa Dental College and Goa Medical Colleges function at Bambolim, at the fringe of Panaji city.
"All the students passing out will have to join government job within six months," the chief minister said.
Goa's chief secretary J P Singh said that the medicos would be taken on contract basis for five years and government is thinking to allow them to do private practice during these years.
He said that the state suffers from the scarcity of doctors which can be made up with such postings.
