Ashu alias Ashrith (20), the main accused, Abhilash alias Abhi (21), Vikas alias Vikki alias Johnson (19), and Karthik (21), all of them from Mangalore, surrendered in the court.

Urwa police inspector Ramachandra Maledar and CCB inspector Valentine D'Souza formed two special teams to hunt down the accused on the same evening the murder took place. But the accused managed to hide from the police and later surrendered in the court.

The court ordered judicial custody to the accused. The police are expected to apply for custody for further investigation of the case.

The real reason for the murder is yet to be revealed by the accused. On Thursday, Varun was killed by knife allegedly by Ashrith and the others after a quarrel broke out between them. It was Varun's birthday, and he was killed just when he was going to pick his friend for a birthday celebration.

The main accused Ashrith is the son of former corporator Bajilakeri Kamalaksha.

I feel sorry for those kids who, instead of growing to be responsible and respected adults, will have to live the rest of their lives in jail not only in shame for themselves but also for their families. Having been a teen myself, it's a dangerous time when you feel invincible and no foresight. Added to that, I had friends who claimed to be politically influential. I thank my parents who were strict that I study and I had lot of my relatives who studied and did well who were roll models for me. I urge parents to be involved with their children's studies, particularly now, where political parties are looking for innocent minds to do their dirty job.

It is like earning a qualification( degree) or a Doctorate for a young Ashrith. Hence forth he will be known or called as 'ASHRITHANNA' in the neighborhood.

    Following in someone's footsteps...!?
Money is there for lavish activity, With that, these kind of friends are readily available. Result is same for most of the politicians children. They are mostly involved in nefarious activity. There is no supervision\no checking on Children movements but always backing them when they do wrong, resulting in these kind of situations.

But to become politician too in Indian States, one needs such kind of background and fame (Goonda).
Young ones are allowed to get involved in goondagiri, to learn to threaten people etc etc. which is kind of a eligibility for winning the elections and to become a well known politician.

Actually one should not regret such loss. It is "live by the sword, die by the sword" situation.

If at such a young age, they can start killing others, sure there is a reason to be concerned for the future of these youngsters.
Slowly but surely, our Mangalore is slowly turning into another Bihar/UP.
