Rousseff defend World Cup preparations

Rio de Janeiro, May 25 (IANS): Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has defended the country's World Cup preparations, insisting the June 12-July 13 tournament is on track to be an unqualified success.

Rousseff's comments came Saturday, a day after Brazil football legend Ronaldo said he was "embarrassed" by delays to key projects like stadiums and airports, reports Xinhua.

"We will stage the World Cup of World Cups," Rousseff said in Brasilia. "We have nothing to be embarrassed about and we don't have an inferiority complex."

Brazil's Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo also responded to Ronaldo by saying the two-time World Cup winner and member of the local World Cup organising committee had "scored an own goal".
