After 7 years, police arrest accused in robbery case

Kasargod, Jun 1: Police on Friday May 30 arrested the main accused in connection to an assault and robbery case that took place seven years ago.

The accused has been identified as Sameer(30), a resident of Manjeshwar. The police team led by Kasargod circle inspector Jacob arrested him. Sameer had allegedly robbed gold weighing 1.75 kg.


It is said that Sameer had been absconding from past seven years.

On May 12, 2007, Trissur resident Vinto Antony who was buying gold jewellery was reportedly assaulted and robbed.

It is said that Vinto Antony was walking to Kasargod railway station with the gold in his bag when the group led by Sameer came by car, snatched the gold from him and fled.

Sameer who has been absconding ever since the incident, returned to hometown only a few days ago. The police who obtained information about it, succeded in arresting him on Friday May 30.

ASI P Ratnakaran, police constables Balakrishnan, Narayanan and Sumesh took part in the operation.
