Mangalore, June 4: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged 24 hours protest against the arrest of Irshad (21), Hussain (20) and Imran (20) in connection with the murder of Rajesh Poojary, an auto rickshaw driver, in Kalpane near Bantwal on March 21.
The protest was held near the DC's office here on Wednesday June 4.
Addressing the protest, the DYFI state president Munir Katipalla said, "Police have arrested the innocent in connection with the murder of Rajesh Poojary. Police have failed to hold a serious probe into this matter. The district has witnessed many communal inspired murders but the district in-charge minster has not taken it very seriously. The political and communal inspired murders should not treated very lightly."
"We will not stop this revolution until the innocent are provided justice. In future, if our problem is not solved, DYFI, along with Mallooru residents will hold a protest in-front of Ramanath Rai's office and will also move towards the state capital to hold a protest against the home minister," he added.
"Though the district in-charge minister knows the reality he is silent. But we have taken this issue very seriously," he concluded.
Corporator Dayananda Shetty, Imthiyaz, Bhava Padarangi and residents of Mallooru were present during the protests.
