Hubli: Former VC of Kuvempu University Dr Gajendragad no more

Hubli, Jun 4: Dr M R Gajendragad, former vice-chancellor of Kuvempu University, Shimoga, and Dharwad University, passed away in Hubli on Monday June 2 night. He was 85.

He was ill from last few months.

Hailing from Gadag, Dr Gajendragad was an erudite scholar, well versed in Sanskrit, Kannada, Hindi and English.

During his long career, he made several presentations on a vast number of topics, particularly on literature and socially relavant matters.

His many works include Islamic books translated into Kannada. An accomplished orator, he had indepth knowledge of social sciences and religious subjects.

    Dr Gajendragad taught us Chemistry in KREC Surathkal in 1979-80

    May his soul rest in peace and may God give strength to those he left behind
