Mangalore, Jun 5: Free school books were given to the students belonging to the econmically backward class by Jamiattul-Sa-Ada Association in collaboration with State Meat Traders’ Association on Wednesday June 4 at Kudroli.
150 students from first to tenth standards benefited from the programme. This, however, was a symbolic gesture as the association in the coming days will distribute books to 1,500 students.
Addressing the students, the vice-president of State Meat Traders’ Association said that it was the 18th year of the free book distribution programme.
“The students should avail the books to pass the examinations with good grades,” he said. He also said that the students should emerge as the responsible citizens of the nation.
Cheluvaraj Swami, the circle inspector of Bunder police station, who was the chief guest of the programme said, “The conduct of the parents plays a pivotal role in shaping the behaviour of the children. Hence, the parents should take good care in this regard."
"There are numerous options before the child to choose a career apart from being a doctor or engineer," he added.
Abdul Hazez, the corporator of Kudroli ward presided over the function. He advised the children not to collect the free books issued by other associations once they get books there.
“The children should traverse the right path and reach the goal,” he said and lauded the efforts of the associations.
