Workers, families jam traffic in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, June 10 (IANS): Over a hundred families of the employees of an electronics company here that had declared a lockout in November 2012 staged a sit-in outside the SSP's office on Hapur Road and jammed the traffic.

The angered company employees said that the company's promoters had declared an illegal lockout.

After the declaration, the labour department issued a recovery notice demanding the company continue to pay salaries to the employees. However, even after almost two years, the company has not paid a single rupee.

The company employees claim that their financial condition is miserable due to non-payment of salaries. It is difficult for them to survive and to send their children to school in absence of even a minimum financial inflow for their families.

"We are going to register FIRs against the company employees who had taken law in their hands by sitting on the highway opposite SSP office and causing traffic jam on the busy Hapur road connecting National Highway-24" said Station Officer of Kavi Nagar police station Arun Kumar Singh.
