Karkala: Forest officials seize lorry for illegally transporting logs of wood

Karkala, June 12: The officials of the forest department have seized a lorry for illegally transporting logs of wood.

The accused is identified as Vishwanath Poojary.


The forest officials who came to know of him cutting valuable Bowie trees at Varanga and transporting them illegally in his lorry No KA 04 B4855 conducted the operation.

The operation directed by Karkala RF K V Subrahmanya was executed by Doddarangadi forest ranger Raghavendra and Varanga forest guard Manjunatha Naika.

The value of the logs and the lorry is said to be Rs 5.50 lacs.
