UP woman kills three daughters, herself after spat with husband

Lucknow, June 13 (IANS): A woman killed her three daughters by poisoning them in Gorakhpur, and then committed suicide, police said Friday. The woman was found hanging from the ceiling in her house while her daughters lay dead on the ground.

The incident took place in Hariya village of the Gadha area when 28-year-old Kiran, after a spat with her husband, locked the room and first killed her three daughters - Payal, Anushka and Parul - and then hanged herself from the ceiling.

Police said her husband, Anand works abroad and had come on a vacation for the past two months. He was away to a doctor, where he had taken his ailing mother, when the incident took place.

Unaware of what was unfolding back home after a domestic spat, when Anand returned home, he saw his wife hanging and the girls lying dead on the floor.

No suicide note was found by the police at the crime scene, but the family told the police team that Kiran had hanged herself after killing her daughters after a quarrel with her husband.

Police said prima facie the case appeared to be of suicide, but added that they will probe all angles, including the role of the husband and his mother.
