Mangalore, Jun 14: "We should aim at reaching the topmost position with 100% result. So the teachers, the education department and the public should put prompt effort," said AB Ibrahim, the deputy commissioner.

He was addressing the audience at the educational conference and felicitation programme organized by DK zilla panchayath in collaboration with the Public Education Department, DK High School Headmasters' and PUC Principals' Association and Federation PUC Mangalore held at Rosario cultural hall here on Saturday June 14.

He said, "Securing 100% results is not a great thing for an educational institution with the students from high profile background. The institutions should not be biased in admitting the students with low grades. Making them secure 100% is the real achievement."

"The institutions should admit the students from all classes like cooli, barber and blacksmith. We should compete with Kerala. Overall, Kerala has achieved 97%, but our aim should be 100% in the SSLC examination. Hence we should make prompt attempt to reach the goal," he added.

On this occasion the DC felicitated the retired teachers Shridhar Rai from Ramakrishna High School Puttur and Leena Rodrigues from Lourds School.

Seetharam Kevala, the principal, Vidyarashmi School, Savanoor, Puttur said "We the teachers have stepped into a noble profession and it is our duty to work sincerely as role models to the students. We will give free advice to students but we forget to imbibe them in our lives."

He added, "A teacher plays a prominent role in balancing the life of a student. We should ask ourselves if we really touch the hearts of the students. We should love them."

K R Thimayya, the deputy director of PUC Education Department, Moses Jayashekar, the deputy director of Public Instruction, Lawerence D'Souza, the convener of St Joseph College and Gangadhar Alva K, the principal of Tumbe College were present.

Students who secured highest marks in SSLC and PUC were honored on this occasion.
