From Sanjay Borkar in Margao for Daijiworld News Network - Goa

Margao, Jul 21: “Margao First”, a city-based NGO has insisted that Margao city be included under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM) to boost the infrastructure development and overall improvement of the city.

'Margao First' convened the interaction session in the city, when they conveyed it to the chief secretary J P Singh. This session was attended By local MLA and power minister Digamber Kamat, finance secretary Ramesh Negi, MMC vice chairpersonn John Gonsalves, SGPDA Chairman Shantaram Kadam and other government officials and prominent citizens.

Meanwhile editor of Sunaparant daily Sandesh Prabhudesai made an audio-visual presentation on the problems created by urbanization.

Other issues like upgradation of Hospicio Hospital and a need of district hospital, early completion of sewerage, burial ground for the Muslims and completion of Ring road were brought to the notice of chief secretary.

Margao First chairman Vinayak Mordekar presented a report “We love Margao”, compiled by him and C V Pujari of Giants group, wherein they have highlighted the general and specific problems faced by the citizens with suggestions and proposed solutions.
