Mangalore: ICYM Flags off Media and Internet Awareness  Programme for Youth

Mangalore, Jul 24: A half-day Media Education Programme for the youth of ICYM Episcopal varado organised as part of the ICYM diamond jubilee celebrations was held at Sandesha Foundation here on Sunday.

The ambitious project taken up by ICYM Central Committee to educate nearly 5,000 youth of the Mangalore Diocese on Media and Internet was flagged off on Sunday by Stephen Mendes of the Mendes Group of Concerns.

The first in the series of several programmes gathered over 30 youth who were educated on Media, Computers and Internet.


Director of Sandesha Foundation Fr Francis Lewis conducted the first session on ‘Media’. Fr Lewis brought out the various dimensions of media. The second session which dealt on computers was conducted by Lavina who is working for IBM. This session discussed the various career options available in the IT sector.


An hour-long session on ‘Internet and its Use’ was conducted by Daijiworld Senior Correspondent Viju Mangalore (Vinod Prem Lobo). The session educated the audience on the use of internet, job search on internet and on e-media with special reference to news websites.

A hands-on experience was given to the youth on creation of e-mail address and accession job sites.

Director of ICYM Fr Elias, vice president of the ICYM diamond jubilee celebrations Sushil Noronha, honorary secretary Raymond Taccode, varado president Anup, central president Jaison Suaris and co-convernor of the diamond jubilee celebrations Anil were also present at the progamme.
