Gurgaon civic body chief lodges FIR over uploaded photo

Gurgaon, June 30 (IANS): Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) commissioner Praveen Kumar has registered a police complaint against unknown people for uploading his family photo on social networking sites without permission, police said Monday.

In the photo uploaded a few days back, Kumar, an Indian Administrative Service officer, was seen hugging his daughter.

"People shared and commented on the photo without knowing that the woman in the photo was (Praveen) Kumar's daughter," a senior police officer told IANS here.

"We have registered a case under section 292A (matter intended for blackmail), 500 (to defame), 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory), 509 (intended to insult modesty of a woman) of Indian Penal Code and IT Act."

Notably, Kumar's laptop was stolen from his vehicle during a demolition drive here May 22. Police said they suspect someone copied the photo from the laptop and uploaded it on the social networking sites.
