Dubai, July 28: Youthfulness, enthusiasm, dynamism and synergy was brimming out at the ‘Yuva Fest,’ the day-long youth convention organised by Konkan Yuva, the youth wing of SMKC Dubai on Jul 28 in Karama Hotel Dubai.

The first of its kind in this part of the world being organised by a Konkani youth organization Yuva Fest, made great strides in bringing the youth under one umbrella.

On the forefront of the organising of this memorable event was Konkan Yuva president Ullas Fernandes with his load of experiences as the president of ICYM in activities of the youth.

Yuva Fest took off at around 11 am with brief an introduction of the group by Saritha D`Souza followed by prayer song by the Konkan Yuva group.

Speaking on the occasion, Ullas Fernandes emphasized that conventions like the Yuva Fest were necessary to develop interpersonal skills and enhance talents among youth. He thanked all those who helped in promoting these events especially the sponsors and spiritual director Fr Fredrick D`Souza.

Fr Fredrick D`Souza, spiritual director of Konkani community in Dubai, a capuchin priest well known among the youth back home in India, and the main inspiration of the programme inaugurated the fest.

The prime events at the convention were the three sessions conducted by the professionals who offered valuable tips to the youth.


VK Pai, Gerald Menezes and Charles D`Souza

Gerald Menezes, an ex-Aloysian and a master degree holder in International Business from Australia, currently working as training manager in ARPAL Gulf, delivered an interesting talk on career guidance.  He spoke on how to approach the carried development and advance in life. He also touched upon career opportunities in UAE.

V K Pai, a Zoology graduate and member of the Indian Institute of Bankers and the assistant general Manager (HRD and training) spoke on how to face interviews?

Charles D`Souza, who studied at St Stephens' College Delhi and presently working as a senior manager in KPMG Dubai spoke on the grown of employees in an organization. Charles is a product of XLRI Jamshedpur and has his specialization in Human Resources Management. 






 

Young and up-coming compere Sachin D`Souza kept the show going with his timely spot prizes, humor, quiz and entertainment.

About 250 youth representing different parishes of Mangalore Diocese and other part of the Konkan region were divided into groups, which gave a competitive spirit and also an opportunity to mingle with others and develop their interpersonal relation.

The constant efforts to keep the programme lively reaped results as the enthusiasm of the youth was at its peak.  They shown great amount unity and augmented the general thought that the youth is the power of any community or nation. A pleasing sight was to see them utilizing their talent creatively in music and dance.






 

Live music by Vijay Noronha and troupe, and DJ Canute Mathias was the perfect cocktail for an eventful evening for the youth who danced with gusto to some of the great Konkani and Hindi numbers.

The event sponsors were felicitated during the event. Terrance Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks.


The grand finale of the event was the non-stop dance, where all were swaying to the music on the dance floor.

Events such as 'Yuva Fest' not only presented the strength of the community youth, but also laid the foundation for similar events in the future.
