Mangalore, Jul 29: A series of violent events which can be vaguely interconnected and yet not be able to actually hit the nail, brought waves of tension in the city on Jul 29.

The grand finale for the day was the arrest of around 20 persons of the Sri Rama Sene including its district leaders Praveen Walkhe and Prasad.

The theft attempt at Shri Dhoomavati Bhadrakali Temple at Kudroli followed the damage to a private bus plying between Mangalore and Udupi.




Miscreants pelted stones at S N Travels at Lady Hill. Sari Palace near Vishwa Bhavan on K S Rao road was attacked by a group of miscreants at 12.30 noon.

Musba Enterprises (Van Heusen) showroom at Kadri was damaged when a group of youth started pelting  stones at the  estabishment.


A saloon owned by a Muslim near Hotel Tajmahal, Car Street was attacked, wherein miscreants pelted stones, which damaged the shop building and property.

The anti-rowdy squad led by Vinay Gaonkar arrested leaders and members of the Sri Ram Sene. The arrests were made at the Arya Samaj office on the Arya Samaj Road, Balmatta.

Further reports have also been received of an attack on a rickshaw driver at Nandigudde. The troublemaker has been arrested.


Although these incidents of violence do not seem to have any link with one another, religious sentiments being the talk of the town are likely to influence such happenings.


Police security has been arranged in several places of the city.
