Mangalore, July 7: "The new programme, Dental Oral Policy which is on the pipeline would be implemented soon to emphasize on the oral health of the people," said health and family welfare minister U T Khader.

He was addressing the gathering that had descended to witness the release of the book, Suraksha, a dental guide by Dr Murali Mohan Choontaru here on Sunday at Bharati college. The programme was organized by Kannada Sangha, Bharati college in consortium with Choontaru Sarojini Bhat Pratishtana.

"After holding the health portfolio, I wondered that there was no dedicated policy on dental health," he said. Khader said that he instructed his department to chalk out a blue print for the Dental Oral policy for the betterment of oral health of the people. The state government is currently distributing teeth sets to sexagenarians. He congratulated Dr Murali for coming up with a book that focused on dental heath.

Earlier in the programme, the book was released by Ramananda Banari, doctor and writer. Addressing the gathering after the release, Banari said, "The book has good insights on dental health." The wit applied in writing by Murali is adorable. He said that the medical sector has deviated from an ethical track and hence a retrospection was needed among the fraternity to bring medical practice on the right track.

During the programme three teachers who taught Dr Murali in his school days were feted by district-in-charge minister Ramanatha Rai. The programme was presided by president of Kannada Sahitya Parishath, D K Pradeep Kumar Kalkura.
