Mangalore: Woman jumps into well at Mulky

Mangalore, Jul 11: Shalini S Kamath (55), a resident of Charanthipete here, committed suicide by jumping into a well located in the compound of her house on the afternoon of Thursday July 10.

It is gathered that Shalini took this step when the family members were away from home for various purposes. She was suffering from some chronic diseases and had been frustrated because of her failing health, it is learnt.

The lady, who had been living in Mumbai in the past, had returned to her native place sometime back. She had left behind a suicide note, through which she said she decided to end her life after having been frustrated with her life. 

After some locals saw her body floating in the well, they called the police. The body was lifted out of the well with help from the fire brigade, before postmortem was conducted at the government hospital, Mulky. 

Shalini is survived by husband, a daughter, and two sons.

A case in this connection was registered in Mulky police station.
