Muscat, Aug 8: Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish – MCCP ( Under the patronage of Sts Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi, Sultanate of Oman) has nominated the new Executive Committee for the year 2006 – 2007.
During the Mangalorean Day function at Oman Sports Ground and subsequent Core Committee meeting at the premises of Sts Peter and Paul Church, Clarence Pinto, (known as Clarence Kaikamba to Konkani literature world.) eminent Konkani Writer, journalist, poet and Borpi Mithr Convener has been nominated as the Main Coordinator for Cultural Committee and Spiritual & Public Relations Committee. Additionally, he will be the advisor to the Cultural Committee also. Suraj Rebello, active Mangalorean community worker and renowned sports personality in the Sultanate will be the in-charge of Sports and Finance Committees as the main coordinator. Suraj will have additional responsibilities as advisor to the sports committee. Our own Mangalorean priest Fr. Albert D’ Silva is the spiritual advisor and will be guiding all the activities.

The above Executive Committee has been divided into four subcommittees, viz Finance Committee, Sports Committee, Cultural Committee and Spiritual & Public Relations Committee.
The following senior Mangalorean community leaders will be offering their valued service as advisors to the various sub-committees:
- Spiritual and Public Relations Committee Advisors : Stanley Fernandes and Monica Dantis
- Sports Committee Advisor : Dolly Gomes and Suraj Rebello
- Finance Committee Advisors : Donald Pinto and Henry Martis
- Cultural Committee : Clarence Pinto
Since its inception in 1992, MCCP has moved from strength to strength winning not only the hearts of hundreds of Mangaloreans in Muscat but also of other community members of the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Ruwi, as well devoting its time to the various cultural and spiritual events. Each year MCCP Executive committee is organizing various competitions and events to bring forth and nurture the multi-dimensional talents of its members and their children.
This year MCCP has adopted a unique theme for their cultural activities which is “Amchi Bhas Amchim Bhurgim” (Our Language and Our Children), to encourage members’ children to learn and adopt our mother tongue – Konkani. Cultural committee, headed by well known Konkani activist Dilip Correa, will be giving a special priority to Konkani Language in their various programs. He will be ably supported by Flavia D Souza, prominent stage artiste of Muscat and Ajay Barboza – active Konkani supporter. As per the reliable sources, inspiring spiritual events will be included in this year’s program list. The Spiritual committee headed by Hilda Rasquinha, Nirmala Goveas and Ronald Lobo are working relentless to plan very interesting programs for members’ children.
Members are expecting to have thrilling sports events under the able leadership of Jerald Mascarenhas, active community worker. He will be supported by Flavy Menezes and Terril Saldhana.
Finance committee will be managed by Lawrence Lobo, Ronald Aranha and Austin Barboza.
Inaugural Function will be held on Friday, 25th August 2006 at the Sts Peter and Paul Church Hall - Ruwi. The program will commence with Holy Mass at 10.30 am and then cultural program at 12.00 noon followed up by lunch.
New Executive Committee has planned many programs, events and competitions for current year just to enthrall whole community. First competition will be Drawing Competition for children on 01.09.2006. The details of the same will be published very soon.
