Kundapur, Aug 12: Mysore Minerals which involved in bauxite-ore mining at Ottinene near Byndoor here has joined hands with Railway Horata Samiti of Byndoor is demanding the upgradation of Byndoor railway station.
The company has been producing 2.5 lac metric tones of bauxite ore at Ottinene. However, owing to the non-availability of a separate yard at the Byndoor railway station, it has been transporting the ore through road transport to the coastal areas. Owing to the limitations of road transport, the company says that it is finding it difficult to meet the demands from other southern states such as Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu etc.
So keeping this in mind, Mahendra Jain, chairman and MD of Mysore Minerals and secretary of commerce and industry department of the state has demanded the Konkan railway authorities to upgrade Byndoor railway station and construct a separate yard at the station.
