Mangalore, Aug 13: It’s the stage where young artistes sang decades ago and today have become immortal in the minds of the Konkani Catholics. It is the same stage that was the launch pad for numerous theatre personalities and musicians and singers. The Konkani Natak Sabha stage even today continues to provide the same to the future artistes of the community.

At the inter-parish Singing Competition held annually under the aegis of Konkani Natak Sabha, the overall trophy (children’s and adult’s category) was bagged by Bejai Parish with a score of 34 points.

This was announced at the adults singing competition held here on Sunday, Aug 13.



The overall champions in the singing competition (adults) were Bejai with 19 points. They were closely followed by Milagres with 18 points and Valencia by 12 points.



In the married couple singing competition, Noel and Celine Moras, Milagres won the first place, while Denzil and Liza Fernandes and Lancy and Mabel Menezes won the second and third place respectively.

In the mixed group competition, Bendur won the first, followed by Milagres and Valencia.




In the men’s group, Bejai bagged the trophy. Valencia and Kattipalla were the second and third respectively.

In the women’s group, Milagres were the toppers. Bejai and Bendur took second and third places.

First Place-Vivian Fernandes, Angelore
Second Place-Robin Sequeira, Valencia
Third Place- Shared by Melwyn D’Souza, Bendur and Silvian D’Silva, Bejai

Women’s Solo Singing Competition

First Place-Chrisilla Rodrigues, Bejai
Second Place-Primal Pereira, Suratkal
Third Place- Jovita Coelho, Derebail

Women’s Duet Singing Competition

First Place-Amabel Moras and Tania D’Sa, Milagres
Second Place-Monita Veigas and Edina Fernandes, Bendur
Third Place-Tina D’Souza and Queen D’Souza, Bejai

Men’s Duet Singing Competition

First Place- Robin Sequeira and Placid D’Souza, Valencia
Second Place- Joachim Miranda and Maxim Cutinha, Kattipalla.
Third Place- Silvian D’Silva and Oswald Viegas, Bejai.

Guardian Angels Church, Angelore lifted the shied at the 43 inter-parish Children’s Singing Competition held annually under the aegis of Konkani Natak Sabha in Don Bosco Hall.

The judges for the event were Walter Colaco, Alwyn D’Cunha and Fr Denis D’Sa.
