Mangalore, Aug 19: Well-known Kannada writer and critic Dr Manimalini V K passed away in KMC Hospital owing to brain hemorrhage here on Friday August 18.  She was the wife of Dr Vasanth Kumar Taltaje, head of Kannada Department of Mumbai University.

Dr Manimalini was a familiar name in the literary circles.  Though she was a well-acclaimed writer specially known for her short stories, she was well-known as one of the few effective critics of Kannada.  A mild and caring person by nature, her writings often had often portrayed her personality.

"Pralobhane" is a book written by here.  She had written several short stories also.  She had done her M A in Kannada before securing her PhD.  She also had attained M.Lib degree and had worked as librarian in Sadhana College in Mumbai.

Having toured extensively in Italy, Germany, and Switzerland for her studies and research works, she has had a great respect for all cultures and all religions.
