From Sanjay Borkar in Margao for Daijiworld News Network - Goa

Margao, Sep 2: Film Producers' Association (FPA) is irked over the government's decision to extend the date of submission of entries for the financial scheme for the film producers from August 31 to September 11, 2006.

"If the concerned department had announced date as September 11 as the date for submission of the entries right in the beginning, we would have not faced any problem. As they had announced August 31 date for submission of entries earlier, we completed the formalities very fast by traveling to Mumbai during Ganesh Festival days. We had taken a lot of trouble to complete the formalities. When we went to enter the form they refused to take by saying that the date is extended", said President of FPA Bonefacio Dias while venting his anger on the concerned department.

"I want to know why and for whom the date is extended," he said further.
He has also said that the concerned department should allocate the finance by seeing the past achievement of the producers, as there are some producers in Goa who had produced the films by their own money. If such producers are neglected then the association will have no alternative to staging a 'Dharna' in fornt of the Inox theatre during IFFI.
