Kundapur, Aug 21: A woman was found dead at her residence in Manoor, opposite Mahalingheshwar temple near Kota on Thursday August 21.

The deceased identified as Girijamma (84), was living alone from past 25 years, after her husband's death.

Gayatri, a neighbour of the deceased said that she used to provide milk twice a day and was well-known.

It is said that Gayatri grew suspicious when Girijamma did not open the door in the morning. When she looked in from the window, she found the body.

It is learnt that Girijamma was ill on the previous day. She could not attend the wedding of her relative in Hassan due to her ill health. She had visited her neighbour's house on the previous day around 7.30 pm.

Locals suspected that the lady was murdered as there was blood in her ear and two tiles from the roof were missing.

After the spot inspection SP Rajendra Prasad said that there were no signs of theft and murder and it looked like a normal death.

Sniffer dog and fingerprint experts from Udupi surveyed the area and collected the details. Body has been sent to Manipal for post mortem.

Case has been registered in Kota police station.

Udupi district SP Rajendra Prasad, DYSP Prabhudev Mane, DCIB Jayashankar, Udupi town circle inspector Shrikanth, Brahmavar circle inspector Gopal Naik, Brahmavar SI Girish, Kota sub-inspector K R Naik and other police officials visited the spot.
