Mangalore, Sep 6: The Indian Farmers Fertilizers Cooperative (IFFCO) Limited in association with Unit Trust of India (UTI), has planned to launch a pension scheme for farmers. This was announced by Dr G N Saxena, director, IFFCO, after inaugurating a sales training programme here on Tuesday September 5, for managers of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies.
Marginal farmers and landless agriculture labourers will be included under this proposed scheme, thus making it a unique one. A monthly premium of Rs 50 will be collected by IFFCO, from farmers through Primary Cooperative Societies. The policy holder after attaining 58 years of age, will be eligible to get monthly pension.
Rajendra Kumar, president, State Apex Cooperative Bank, stressed IFFCO to revive the Bramhavar Cooperative Sugar Factory.
C S Patil, regional manager, Hassan, IFFCO, S Siddaiah, deputy marketing manager, Shimoga, IFFCO, K T Manjunath, state sales manager, IFFCO and H S Nagarajaiah, deputy registrar, Cooperative Societies, were among those present.
