Gurgaon, Aug 25 (IANS): Four youth were arrested here after a gunbattle for trying to extort Rs. 10 crore from a Congress party leader, police said Monday.

Harish Adhlakha, from Gurgaon's Palam Vihar area, Lalit from Darbhanga, Bihar, Aman from District Kangra in Himachal Pradesh and Harish alias Hari from District Almora in Uttrakhand were arrested from sector 56 here after a brief gun battle Sunday night.

The accused were Monday produced in the court which sent them to police custody for two days.

"The mastermind Harish Adhlakha hatched the plan after watching crime-based serials on television," joint police commissioner (crime) Vivek Sharma told reporters.

He roped in Aman, Lalit and Harish promising to pay Rs. 3 lakh to each.

Aman, who worked for a finance company, managed to get mobile SIM cards on fake identities.
