Kasargod, Aug 27: Police produced Manish Shetty, a resident of Udupi, who was in their custody for allegedly hacking a conspiracy to shoot at the house of Bevinje contractor M T Mohammed Kunhi, in the Kasargod court. The suspect who was undergoing imprisonment at Bangalore, was taken into custody by Kasargod police and produced in the Kasargod court.

Manish Shetty was in the Parappana Agrahara jail for the last four years for theft of jewelery. Kasargod police had submitted a petition to the Bangalore court for his custody for trial relating to the Bevinje incident. Responding to the request, the court has haded over the custody to the Kasargod police.

Police had arrested Manish Shetty's accomplices Puttu alias Abdulla Hameed (40) resident of Paivalike Bayar and Mohammed Ali alias Munna (35) resident of Kurudapadavu a few months ago. The shooting incident on the house of Mohammed Kunhi had occurred on June 25, 2010 and July 18, 2013. The group had demanded a ransom of Rs 50 crores.

The accused confessed and said that the incident occurred because they suspected that the gold jewelery valued at Rs 50 crores was sent by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim through his accomplices and was held in the house of Mohammed Kunhi.
