Beltangady, Aug 28: A person named Melwin Pinto (30), son of Babu Pinto from Odjil in Machchina village in the taluk committed suicide on Wednesday August 27 by consuming insecticide. He was unmarried.

It is learnt that Melwin had visited Madantyar on Tuesday August 26. The family members observed that the same evening after he came home he had started vomitting. The overpowering odour of insecticide had spread all through the house. Therefore, the family members took him immediately to a private hospital in Mangalore. Although the doctors started to treat him immediately, Melwin breathed his last on Wednesday, it is gathered.

A report filed in this connection at Punjalakatte station stated that Melwin would have committed suicide because of a feeling of frustration he was going through on account of the fact that he had been suffering from epilepsy which did not subside even after prolonged medication.
