Beltangady: Girl who fell from building breathes her last

Beltangady, Sep 2: Sevanti (12), who fell to the ground from a building near the bus stand here on Sunday August 31 passed away at a hospital in Mangalore on Monday September 1.

Although it is believed that Sevanti had fallen accidentally from the second floor of the said building and that her father, Hemachandra, jumped to rescue his daughter, the policemen are yet to come to a definite conclusion as different versions about the incident are doing the rounds and no one had seen the girl falling from the second floor. The people came to know about the incident only after the girl fell down with a loud noise, followed by her father.

The condition of Hemachandra (58) continues to be serious. Hemachandra, it is said, was depressed at the fact that both his children remained ill in spite of prolonged treatment.

Beltangady police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
