Mangalore, Sep 9: The Global Multispeciality Hospital organized a one-day free medical check-up camp for the Koraga community in association with Integrated Tribal Development Project, Zilla Panchayat, Mangalore on Sunday September 7 from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm.

Dr Manjayya Shetty, Health Officer, Mangalore City Municipal Corporation and Shabir Mulla, Project Co-ordination Officer, Integrated Tribal Development Project, Mangalore were the Chief Guests for the inaugural function.

Addressing the gathering, Shabir Mulla said that the majority of the Koraga Community is residing in Udupi, DK and Kasargod districts. He also said that a maternal death rate in this community is higher than other communities. Mulla also said that smart cards have been distributed to all the members of the community and the details of the individuals will be available online within two months. Since the past one and half years Rs 45 lacs have been spent for the treatment of 89 families of this Koraga community. He was delighted that Global Multispeciality Hospital has been authorized for cashless treatment of the patients of Koraga Community and no limit has been fixed for any specific treatment.

Dr Sushil Jathanna, Director, Global Multispeciality Hospital in his welcome speech highlighted the various facilities and specialties available in the hospital and its desire to reach out to marginalized community.

Dr Sudaram Rai, Managing Director, Global Multispeciality Hospital expressed his gratitude to Shabir Mulla for his help in organizing the Free Medical Checkup Camp for the Koraga Community. He also praised the efforts of Kogga, Subba K and other leaders of the Koraga Community. Bhaskar Aras, Media Co-ordinator helped in organizing the camp. Ishwar Moolya, Manager, Global Multispeciality Hospital anchored the programme.
