Dubai: New Stars Emerge at Mangalore Konkans' Talent Show

    Dubai, Sep 22: With several new talents being provided the center stage, the Mangalore Konkans' talent hunt show was a huge success in every way. Numerous young talents emerged as stars and performed their skills in singing and in stagecraft on Friday, Sep 22.



    10-year-old Yash Pinto who mesmerized the entire audience with his splendid performance at the Indian Consulate had to make the prize-winning performance again on public demand. The stunning performance by Yash won him accolades and gift vouchers from the guests.

    His amazing performance with innovative song and enhanced presentation skills has carved a niche for himself in the Konkani music world.



    The competition was held in Indian Consulate on Friday between 9 am to 1 pm for children and thereafter from 3.30 pm to 9 pm for adults.

    The quality of performances by the contestants was of top level pointed out one of the judges, well-known musician and Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Eric Ozario. He said "talents presented in Dubai are in no way lesser to those seen in Don Bosco Hall Mangalore during the annual inter-parish competitions."

    Creating history for itself, the Mangalore Konkans' Talent contest show was overbooked and had about 248 contestants registered for the competitions.

    James Mendonca, president of Mangalore Konkans' expressed his great satisfaction over the show as he praised Linus Moras and his team for the superb organizing of the event.

    Prize distribution for first morning was held at the last session of mornings programme. The sponsors of Mangalore Konkans were present during the event and gave away the prizes.

    The noon's session was an attractive package of glamorous as contestants were seen in colorful dresses presenting their songs.

    While the group singing competition was an attractive event, tough competition marked all the categories including the Male, Female, Mixed and even Duet Singing categories.



    The crowd was a much-disciplined one and was seen encouraging the contestants throughout the show. Credit is due to the Mangalore Konkans for putting up a neat and disciplined event.

    Although the 'Laughter Competition' for men did not go a long way in producing great amount of laughter among the audience, Mangalore Konkans take the credit for introducing such an event in Konkani in Dubai.

    The '5-minutes skit' contest was participated by only 4 groups, but the quality of skits was amazing.

    The team led by veteran artiste from Abu Dhabi Wilfred D`Souza won the first prize in the contest, while the Laughter Contest was won by him.



    The judges of the event were well-known personalities of the Konkani world. Wilfred Fernandes of Abu Dhabi was the youngest judge with his enormous knowledge of Konkani music. Bollywood fame and Dini Dini music director Alwyn Fernandes, Vishwa Konkani Kalaratna Eric Ozario, and Louis Rodrigues were the other judges for the afternoon's music event.

    Daiji Dubai convener and one of the talented stage directors that Konkani has ever produced Hemacharya, Comedy King Francis Fernandes Cascia, and veteran actor, multi-talented and a silently hardworking community leader Oswald D'Souza from Abu Dhabi were well deserved three judges for the skit competition.






    On the occasion the main sponsors of the event Joseph Mathias of Merit Freight system and other co-sponsors were felicitated for their support and contribution.

    The judges and others who helped for the success of the show were also felicitated.

    Uttam Menezes compered the entire event and Manohar Pais supported from behind the scene.
