Dubai, Sep 15: Parishioners of Pernal under the aegis of FAMAD Pernal, the exclusive association which works towards the unity of Pernal parishioners residing at the UAE, celebrated the traditional harvest festival 'Monthi Fest' in Dubai, on Friday, 12 September at Richmond Hotel ApartmentS.
The event began with prayer dance by Anya D'Souza followed by recitation of prayers. Lawrence Correa, president of FAMAD Pernal welcomed the gathering. Veneration of the statue of infant Mary was held in a traditional manner which included singing of hymns 'Sokkod Sangatam Mellyam' and 'Moriek Hogollsiyam'. Children carried flowers and offered to mother Mary.
The blessed paddy corn (Novem) was then brought to the hall by newly married couple of Sandra Priya and Cleevan which was received by Precilla Mathias. Novem was then distributed by all.
Dony Correa conducted the annual selection process of the new working committee. Parishioners who contributed to the event were then honoured with fruit baskets.
A nine-course sumptous meal was served on banana leaves, along with delicacies like 'Patrode', 'Holige' and 'Vorn'. Outgoing president Lawrence Correa proposed vote of thanks. The event concluded with the singning of 'Laudate'. Dinesh correa compered.
