Dead lizard in Bihar hospital meal

Patna, Sep 22 (IANS): A dead lizard was found in the meal served to patients in a government-run hospital in Bihar Monday and the condition of at least six patients deteriorated after eating the meal, officials said.

The incident occurred at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital.

"After the incident came to light, people staged a protest and demanded action against the guilty," a district health official said.

Hospital superintendent Shankar Jha has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

"I can say anything only after the inquiry into the incident has been completed," Jha said.

In the past eight months, dead lizards have been found in mid-day meal served to school children at many places across the state.
