Mangalore, Oct 1: If Konkani language, literature and art needs to grow and flourish then one needs to transfer this knowledge to the younger generation. This goal has been achieved by Kalangann through its 9-day long theatre workshop which had its grand finale in the shape of the 58th monthly theatre (moinyali manchi) on Sunday, Oct 1.

Vigour, enthusiasm and tremendous energy were vividly displayed on stage as the 17 children who underwent the workshop presented their skills.


It was a kid’s world where they stole the lime light with their pure expressions.


On Sunday Kalangann was houseful to witness the outcome of the theatre workshop. The children Janevel Castelino, Jeevan Vas, Joel Mascarenhas, Jennifer Lobo, Oslee Antony D’Souza, Prathiba Joyce Saldanha, Pius Vas, Rolain Lobo, Rohan Monis, Roshan Fonseca, Robin Lobo, Sanjay Rodrigues, Sanjeet Rodrigues, Vaibhav D’Souza, Vernon D’Souza, Wilma D’Souza and Doly D’Souza brought on stage lively performances of music, dance and stage craft.


The chief guests for the evening were comedian Charlie Sequeira and resource person for the workshop Ivan D’Silva.

The children who conduced a music concert with rich Konkani songs sung to the music given by Joel Pereira and troupe also staged a mind blowing drama Pinzra Iskool (Prison School). The play written by the famous poet Rabindranath Tagore was translated into Konkani by Rony Crasta.


The audience at Kalangann would not stop themselves from clapping after each performance and there rose applauses after each scene of the drama.


The children brought out their best on stage thus winning overwhelming praise of everyone present there. The drama was directed by Ivan Silva and the music was provided by Kingsley and team.

The participants of the theatre workshop were given certificates.


Tiny tot Miolla Pinto was the apple of the eye of the audience as the elegantly compered the evenings programme.


Louise Pinto, President Mandd Sobhann and several other office bearers were present on the occasion.
