Intruder threatens students at Australian college

Sydney, Sep 26 (IANS): The staff and students at an Islamic college in Australia were threatened with a knife by an intruder, media reported Friday.

Police said the man entered al-Faisal College in Sydney Thursday, spoke to a female staff member and later left, Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Mariam Veiszadeh, spokesperson for Islamophobia Register Australia, said she had spoken to two parents from the college and a community leader who was in contact with the head of the college.

They reported a man running on ground, asking if it was a "Muslim school" and then pulling out a knife and threatened a teacher and students.

The obese man has been described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, 20 to 25 years of age.

'Islamophobia Register Australia' has been created to air reports of discrimination as the Muslim community fears a backlash after counter terror raids in Sydney and Brisbane this month.
