Al Qaeda to use SIMI to target India: Intelligence Bureau

New Delhi, Oct 8 (Deccan Chronicle): Intelligence agencies have warned the Centre that there is credible information to suggest that al Qaeda has already initiated a move to rope in the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) to spread its network in the country.

According to a classified note sent by the Intelligence Bureau to key agencies and some Union ministries, there is credible information that the al Qaeda was trying to establish contact with top leaders of SIMI.

The information assumes significance as the al Qaeda top commander Ayman al Zawahari had recently released a video threatening India that terror activities would be stepped up in the Indian subcontinent in the days ahead. Since then, intelligence agencies have been specially told to closely monitor al Qaeda.

According to the intelligence note, details of which have been accessed by this newspaper, “al Qaeda through its operatives in Pakistan has already established contact with Riyaz and Iqbal Bhtakal, founders of Indian Mujhaideen, in Karachi, to gain access to SIMI’s formidable network of sleeper cells in the country. Since IM has worked in close association with the SIMI in the past, they will definitely help the al Qaeda and SIMI to come together.”

Sources said Pakistan’s security agencies are also trying for this alliance since al Qaeda would need strong local logistical support to carry out subversive activities in India.

RSS and BJP, always found fault with congress for dividing the country. Guess, those congress leaders were much visionaries and far sighted than even some of the professors of BJP. If there was no partition, the radical islamic militants would have created a mehem as we see in rest of the world. A honest decision always takes time for most to appreciate, where as dis-honest decisons get quickly appreciated and adored.

Enemies of our Country are happy to find cracks developed within our own countrymen.
Enemies part of job is done by SOME of our own politicians and super patriots.
They have in a way already gave them tacit support.
Due to trust deficiency, enemies will deceive some of our people and get easy entry to carry out terrorists activities and further widen division among us.
Then why will they go for direct, costly external war when they are able to carry out internal attack?

Valerian, these groups just need a reason to attack..even if you are united they will find a way..its a war of religious supremacy in different forms..show me a single country where these groups (in different names) not creating trouble..Do you think minority christian citizens troubled majorities in pakistan, syria,Egypt,Iraq in any way?..then minorities running for their life in these countries??..its a global phenomenon which needs a collective efforts..If you keep on giving justification time will run out..Arab countries lately realised this, now struggling to survive..

In West Bengal Burdwan Blast, Burqa Factory was the Front face for Bomb-Making Plant. S(i)eculars & their votebank party choose to be mum about this as they accuse others.

You do not need to check the whole rice in the pot to see if its cooked. Just one or 2 grains are enough.
