Abu Dhabi: Dolphy Vaz Elected President of KCO

Abu Dhabi, Oct 15: Dolphy Vaz, a noted community leader and activist, has been elected president of Abu Dhabi's only Mangalorean association, Konkani Cultural Association.

Doplhy Vaz was the president of KCO in 2000-2001 at the time of the memorable visit of Bisho of Mangalore to the capital of UAE and other Emirates of UAE. He was instrumental in organizing the Bishop's maiden visit. An active senior member of KCO, Dolphy has taken the charge of president for the second time.

He was elected president during the general meeting held in Abu Dhabi on October 12.


Suzy Fernandes and Melville Pinto

Suzy Fernandes, another active member of KCO has been re- elected as secretary, whereas Melville Pinto, yet another experienced member of KCO has been elected as treasurer.

Dolphy Vaz, speaking to daijiworld after the election, said that bringing the Konkani community together in Abu Dhabi would be the main motto of KCO.

He thanked the outgoing president and office-bearers for their successful tenures and assured to continue same work in the coming days.
