Dubai: Budding Toastmasters Form Creation's Gavel Club

Dubai, Oct 16: October 14, was the much anticipated day, when over 30 girls and boys (between the ages 12 - 18 years) were enrolled to the newly launched Creation's Gavel Club at a very impressive function held at the Al Futtaim Training Centre in Dubai.


 
The Star of Arabia Toastmaster's club which has sponsored the club welcomed the young gavelliers into the fold and explained to the the priviliges and duties of being a Toastmaster. Not only being an international organisation and is well reckoned and acknowledged, it gives one the sense of being, a sense of listening and above a sense of being a leader in life.

The President of the Star of Arabia Toastmaster's Club DTM Balaji Nagabushan along with Mr. Hemant Mundhra, CTM, Anupama Parkar CTM and Avinash D'Souza CTM, Ronald Olivera CTM and Vishnu Raut DTM conducted the proceedings of the day, and there was an active participation  by the new gavalliers, which proved that each of them has the potential to become a confident and competent Speaker.



 
The financial sponsor of the Club Mr. Santosh Nazareth and parents of the young gavelliers who were present during the ceremony were confident that the Gavel Club will play a prominent role in shaping the personality of each and every gavallier.


Tamara Ann D'Costa and Adrian D'Souza presented their prepared speech and were evaluated by Ronald Olivera and Hemant Mundhra respectively.
 
In the Table Topics (impromptu speeches)
Krishna - spoke on "is Internet a Boon or Bane".
Amanda - spoke on "Health cannot be taken for granted"
Guruprasad - spoke on "Friendship is like a Bank Account - you cannot withdraw without depositing"
Siddesh - spoke on "Science has it done more harm than good"


The prize for "Best Speaker" went to Krishna.
 
Ms Renny Fernandes spoke on the parent's perspective of  joining the Gavel Club.
Monthly meetings will be held at the Winny's Restaurant on alternate Saturday evenings.
